According to Variety Universal has tapped Chris Morgan, who wrote the screenplay for the third Fast and Furious film, to adapt The Psycho, created by Dan Brereton and James Hudnall and published by DC Comics. Universal has been developing the property for several years, but the assignment of Chris Morgan to adapt this action-packed saga about a rogue CIA agent who takes potentially lethal drug in order gain the superpowers necessary to rescue his girlfriend may mean that The Psycho may actually be able to escape from the "develop-mental" asylum and make it onto the screen.

Morgan is a "hot" writer because of his work on Fast and Furious: Tokyo Drift, the third installment in the cinematic street racing series, which is due to be released on June 16th, 2006.  F&F: Tokyo Drift, which is set in Japan, should provoke additional interest in the Initial D manga and anime series (released in the U.S. by Tokyopop), which were very instrumental in the development of the street racing scene in Japan (and the U.S.) and which put a major emphasis on "drifting" as a way to win races set on roads with numerous curves.
