Recently, OKcomic made an interview with American cartoonist Roy Delgado who had submitted his excellent cartoon works to our international cartoon contests.
Okcomic: Why cartoon is so important to you?
Roy Delgado: Cartooning is important to me because:
A) It is challenging to me, it is relaxing to me, I've always enjoyed drawing since I was very little and there is nothing more rewarding to a person who chooses an occupation that is creative and difficult, an occupation where there is no limit and go after it and succeed along the way getting better and better every day! It is the journey that is so exciting ! B) I have never found any other kind of work that is as enjoyable as drawing.
Okcomic: What would you like to express in cartoons?
Roy Delgado: I like to express in my cartoons a lot of reality that is funny . . .Life is very funny. . . Sometimes when you express a reality . . but just make a minor alteration in the reality, it becomes funny. As in the 2 cartoons of the Eastern Philosophers. . They're both reality . . Very close to reality.

Okcomic: I see some Eastern philosophy in your works, do you believe that cartoon can be the bridge between different cultures?
Roy Delgado:Yes, cartoons can bridge between several cultures . . Many cartoons that are captionless are funny in the whole human race because there are no words to translate . . it's all visual .
Okcomic: Can you give some suggestions to those young cartoon learners?
Roy Delgado: My suggestions to a Beginning Cartoonist;
A) If you have it within your mind that you REALLY want to become a cartoonist, you WILL become a cartoonist. B) Once you develop a plan and stick to it. C) You must draw every day because you have to draw every day. Just like you have to sleep every day, you have to draw every day. Just like you have to eat every day . . You also have to DRAW every day ! E) Socrates said: " You learn to play the flute by playing the flute. " F) Remember: " Whatever you vividly imagine, ardently desire, and enthusiastically act upon will inevitably come to pass. "
