When comic book heroes, Batman and Robin, were brought to the small-screen in the 1960's, they quickly captured the hearts of fans all over and became one of the most loved duos on TV. But now, Robin, played by Burt Ward, has fought of stiff competition, as easily as he fought hardcore criminals, to top the poll of "Best Sidekick" of all time.
Robin beat other contestants such as Baldrick from who came in second, Gromit the dog from Gromit and Wallace who came in at fourth place and, Laurel from Laurel and Hardy was voted the fifth best sidekick of all times, according to The Sun.
The vote for third favourite sidekick went to Only Fools and Horses chief character, Del Boy's baby brother Rodney, played by actor Tony Lyndhurst.
British supersleuth detective, Sherlock Holmes' friend, Dr Watson, could only manage seventh spot, while Captain Kirk's friend, Dr Spock, of the hit TV serial 'Star Trek' came in at number eight.
